He treated us as people; his kindness is second to none, and his knowledge is incredible.
My wife was in the hospital for 16 days with pneumonia. There were many nurses to come in to help her, but for two days, we had Patrick. He took time to explain in detail what the medicine he was giving her would do. At one point, they had to check her blood sugar. It registered 341; my wife was so worried that something was wrong with her.
Patrick quickly and calmly explained that one of her meds was the cause and then went into great detail explaining the hows and whys. He helped me prepare for helping her once we get home, on how to do this whole insulin procedure step by step. When giving her one of her shots, I watched him do it, explaining all the whys. He was never in a rush when he came into her room. He took time to find out who the patient was. He was very helpful in making the roller coaster of emotion manageable.
When it came time to get out of the room, walking, he was right there showing how to use the portable tank and had his phone show us all of the vitals. When we were talking in the halls, he would come and find us and explain that the monitor on the finger wasn’t registering properly and that he would check it out, and asked her how she felt. Then would reassure us that her saturation was higher than it registered.
He treated us as people; his kindness is second to none, and his knowledge is incredible. He showed us so much compassion and kindness. As very difficult stay was made so much easier because of Patrick!
