A Bachelor-prepared nurse and respected leader within our hospital, she ensures that her unit’s voice is represented and that evidence-based practices guide our work. As a preceptor, she excels in patient safety, mentoring, development, and role-modeling professional nursing practice. Her contributions have been recognized with multiple awards throughout her career, including the Contribution to Profession award.

Her Associate Director captured her impact best: “Congratulations on 43 years of nursing! What an outstanding accomplishment, and most remarkably, you continue to contribute to upholding and improving the nursing standard of care every day. Thank you for all you do and continue to do!”

She shows unwavering compassion, professionalism, and lifelong dedication. This nurse is a true champion of patient safety and excellence. Her passion for innovation shines through every initiative she leads. As a key member of the Hospital Acquired Infection Committee, she doesn’t just monitor—she actively rounds on patients and implements strategies that prevent CLABSIs, CAUTIs, and other infections. She assisted and created an oxygen administration guide that empowers nurses to deliver care with confidence and clarity.

Her commitment to safety is unmatched. She achieved 100% compliance in Positive Patient Identification and Bar Code Medication.
Administration, setting the gold standard for others. On the Opioid Safety Committee, her leadership in expanding capnography monitoring has significantly reduced opioid-induced respiratory depression, saved lives, and improved outcomes.

Many of her projects have gone system-wide. She goes beyond the expected—researching best practices, driving peer review improvements, and ensuring lessons learned translate into safer care. Her compassion is evident in her work with the Palliative Care Dyad and bereavement committee, where she provides dignity and comfort to patients and families during life’s most difficult moments.

Her vigilance recently prevented a critical supply chain error, reinforcing a culture of safety hospital-wide. She is not only a problem solver but an innovator, a mentor, and a role model. Through her dedication, knowledge, and heart, she inspires all of us to aim higher and deliver the very best for our patients. Her amazing patient care has led to extremely high patient satisfaction scores.

This nurse exemplifies extraordinary compassion and service through her deep commitment to community outreach. She regularly volunteers as a “Chef for a Day” at the Ronald McDonald House, preparing meals that bring comfort, nourishment, and strength to families caring for critically ill children. On her unit, she leads initiatives that lift the spirits of pediatric patients and families, including organizing elaborate prom raffle baskets and coordinating annual Christmas family adoptions. Each year she selects a family in need, purchases food and gifts, and personally wraps and delivers them—ensuring families who are struggling can still experience the joy of the holidays.

Her dedication extends beyond the hospital walls. She volunteers with Wreaths Across America, distributing and placing wreaths at the Marana Veterans Cemetery and sponsoring a wreath annually to honor fallen service members. She also supports Family Life Radio, contributing to their mission of encouraging families and fostering spiritual growth. In addition, she donates to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which provides homes and support for the families of fallen first responders, veterans, and 9/11 heroes.

Her generosity reaches communities in crisis as well; she has provided financial support to Samaritan’s Purse for flood victims and participates in their Christmas Shoebox program each year.
