I would like to nominate Patricia for the DAISY Award because of the extraordinary care, compassion, and professionalism she has shown me during a very vulnerable time. Although Patricia has only been my nurse for the past 12 hours, the impact she has made on my hospital experience here at Seton Hays has been profound. I was admitted to the hospital for a dental abscess that spread into the soft tissue of my face, causing significant swelling, pain, and fear. From the moment Patricia took over my care, she made me feel safe, heard, and genuinely cared for. She has been incredibly attentive, checking on me frequently and responding immediately to any concerns or discomfort I have had. Every question I’ve asked, and there have been many, has been met with patience, kindness, and clear explanations. Despite my anxiety, med requests, and frequent needs, she never once made me feel like a burden; instead, she consistently reassured me and treated me with dignity and understanding. What truly sets Patricia apart is her heart. She took the time to ask about my five children at home, knowing how much I miss them, and showed sincere concern for their well-being. That simple but meaningful act reminded me that I am not just a patient in a bed, but a person, a mother, going through a frightening experience away from her children. Patricia exemplifies everything the DAISY Award stands for, and I am deeply grateful for the care she has provided. She is truly an exceptional nurse and a gift to her patients.
