I want to nominate Patience Pounds, RN, for the DAISY Award because of the extraordinary care, compassion, and professionalism she showed during one of the most difficult times for my family. From the moment Patience walked into the room, I felt a sense of calm and reassurance. She consistently explained everything to us in a way we could understand, no matter how many times we asked. She showed not only expert clinical knowledge but also an incredible gift of empathy and patience. Her name couldn't be more fitting-- Patience truly embodied the virtue throughout our time in the ICU. She didn't just care for me as a patient--she cared for my family. She made sure we were informed, comfortable, and never left in the dark. Even during critical moments, she remained composed, attentive, and focused. I was constantly amazed at how she handled high-stress situations with such grace and skill.

There was a night in particular that I will never forget. We were scared and overwhelmed, and Patience stayed by our side, checking on me, the patient, and my family regularly. She treated us like family. Her kindness was genuine, and it was clear that she genuinely cared. It's not every day you come across someone like Patience. She is a unique soul, and her compassion shines through everything she does. The ICU is lucky to have her, and I know we were incredibly blessed to have her caring for us. Patience Pounds is more than deserving of this recognition. She is the perfect example of what a DAISY nurse should be — dedicated, compassionate, and extraordinary in every way —with heartfelt thanks.
