My father has been slowly declining and has advanced congestive heart failure and kidney disease. I live 500 miles away and often feel helpless and frustrated trying to help take care of my parents living so far away while working a demanding full-time job. My dad had another heart attack and was taken to Providence on a Thursday night. Every time he goes to the hospital, I must decide if I should race to Mobile to be there or wait it out and try to keep informed and help my mom make decisions from 500 miles away.
Pam Morgan went out of her way to try and keep me informed by giving me very detailed information every time I called. I know she was extremely busy over that weekend because she answered the phone after her shift should have ended. She never acted rushed or like I was bothering her even when I called after her shift ended. She still was patient, kind, and compassionate and gave me updates. I did end up making the decision to drive to Mobile to help my mom find placement for rehab.
While the social worker was working on rehab placement, my mom and dad wanted to get on the waiting list at Little Sisters of the Poor. When I was trying to fill out the application, again Pam went out of her way to help me get the medical information I needed like diagnosis and medication list. She was always patient and calm with my dad and never seemed to get frazzled at all, and I know my dad can be a handful sometimes especially when he doesn't feel good. Pam is an ideal nurse!
