As a physician, if I could clone her and have her care for all my patients, I would. She is everything a nurse should be and so much more.
To say Paige was phenomenal is an understatement. Let me start by saying, my mother-in-law is the Dean of a nursing school and a retired Army colonel. My husband and I are both board-certified internal medicine doctors, and I’m a cardiology fellow. My mother-in-law was admitted to St. Tammany with choledocolithiasis, and of course, two physicians came with her. I can only begin to imagine how intimidating and overwhelming it must have been for her to walk into a situation like that, but Paige never broke stride. She was exceedingly kind and warm. Her demeanor and sense of calm immediately put my mother-in-law at ease. She was her nurse for 3 days and was a constant source of strength for all of us. I don’t think my mother-in-law needed to use her call button at all when Paige was there because she was always checking in on all of us.

As physicians, she treated both my husband and I with respect and listened to our concerns and requests and always made sure the care team maintained the level of care we expected. When my mother-in-law underwent her ERCP, she checked on us several times and kept us informed of what she knew. When we realized she had to be transferred for a higher level of care, Paige again went above and beyond. When things were not happening as quickly as they should, she found the right people to answer our questions and did everything in her power to expedite the process. The next day, Paige checked in on the bed status every 30-45 minutes and updated us as often as possible. As a family member, I couldn’t have asked for a better nurse to care for my mother-in-law. As a physician, if I could clone her and have her care for all my patients, I would. She is everything a nurse should be and so much more. We are eternally grateful for the care she gave during a time of need.
