Olivia didn't know my mother or father but treated them with so much respect and had a heart of gold to help someone in need. I know the world is crazy, but I will forever be grateful for the compassion that was shown to my parents. Olivia made my parents feel safe. She was so kind and loving to my parents, and I felt like she treated them like her own.
My father was brought in the emergency department for pancreatic cancer and was in the process of receiving hospice care. He needed to come into the ER to be able to control his pain level as we couldn't control his pain level at home. My parents didn't have any money to be able to afford their pain medication and I was not able to help. My mother always put herself on the back burner when it came to my father. Olivia was so kind and explained what was going on and how the process works in the emergency department. Olivia was very attentive to my father's pain level and wanted to help decrease his pain. My mother was newly diagnosed with breast cancer, but was worried about taking care of my father before herself. Olivia was talking with my mother, and Olivia allowed my mother to open up and just sat with my mother, talking about her life and how scared she was to lose my father. My mother knew it wasn’t going to be much longer before my father went to go see the good lord. They have been married for 42 years. My mother mentioned to Olivia that she was newly diagnosed with breast cancer and was going to be receiving treatment for her cancer within the coming weeks. My mother did not have much money to be able to get her medication or my father's pain medication. Hence why, he ended up in the emergency department because of his pain level. Olivia asked my mother how much her medication would cost for both of them, and Olivia gave my mother the money to go and fill her and my father's prescriptions. Olivia also gave them a gift card to have a nice dinner together. I can't thank Olivia enough for her generosity in caring about my mother and father. Olivia, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I don't think you understand what you did for my Mother and Father. My father has since passed away from cancer, and my mother is continuing to fight for her life with breast cancer, but because of you, she was able to get her medication for the month and have one of their last favorite meals together with my father before he passed away. My mother talks about you often. Olivia Myers, you are a wonderful nurse who was very attentive to my parents’ needs when they were in the emergency department.
