She listened to everything I had to say, whether it was a health complaint, telling her about my day, or just a joke. She visited with such intent to make me feel heard and cared for.
I was a patient on the short-stay unit of the hospital for four nights while Olivia was my night nurse. I had many long and hard days and looked forward to seeing a familiar face every night. As a 19-year-old patient who was the youngest on the floor, Olivia always made my small hospital room feel like home, as much as it could. Every time she came into my room she would pull up a chair and speak with me like a friend. She listened to everything I had to say, whether it was a health complaint, telling her about my day, or just a joke. She visited with such intent to make me feel heard and cared for. When I voiced an issue she sought to fix it. During my entire stay, my diagnosis was up in the air and uncertain. Every night, Olivia discussed with us any questions we had about the process we were going through and brought it all down to my level.

During my entire stay, Olivia was incredible, but my final night truly made me realize how great of a nurse she was. Early that day, I talked to her about how badly I wanted to get out of my hospital bed. After all of her patients were taken care of and Olivia took her break, she came and got me on her break, Oliva took me around the hospital in a wheelchair and talk to me like I was more than just a patient with a weird circumstance and an uncertain diagnosis.

Overall, Olivia was such a breath of fresh air after such hard and exhausting days. IT is without a doubt that I can say that she is in the right profession, and any patient that has her is lucky. Olivia is the only healthcare worker I have ever had a hard time saying goodbye to, because her 4 days of work were over. Oliva, Thank you for such intentional care and for a short friendship. I truly appreciate you! The world needs more Nurse Olivias!
