Odeh knew how to listen and when time allowed, he would stand at my husband's bedside, clasp his hand and say, "My man, I'm here for you."

My husband was diagnosed with glioblastoma at the end of April of this year and spent weeks in the hospital. He has since passed away. Odeh was assigned as his nurse, and he changed our lives for the better. Both my husband and I, over the years, were patients in different hospitals, and never, and I truly mean never, had we been blessed with a nurse like Odeh. He is an outstanding nurse, bright, capable, gentle, attentive, but he is also an extraordinary human being.

He tended to my husband with deep respect, caring for him with a tender touch and always a kind and uplifting word. Odeh knew how to listen and when time allowed, he would stand at my husband's bedside, clasp his hand and say, "My man, I'm here for you." I slept at the hospital and during long difficult nights, I would be at peace knowing Odeh would be in the room at 7 am with his genuine smile, making me feel that he cared for my husband not only as a patient, but a person. The bullet points you list on the front of this application are written with Odeh in mind. He exemplifies them all.

When we moved to the rehab unit, whenever Odeh could, he would stop by at the end of his shift just to "check in" and touch my husband ever so gently and say "peace be with you." He was my angel and my husband's angel-- my family's angel. Odeh's presence brought a sense of sacredness into the room. He spoke quietly, listened attentively, and cared with all his heart. If any nurse deserves special recognition, it is Odeh. The world is a better place because Odeh is in it.
