I was scheduled for surgery, however, was contacted and asked if I could come earlier since it appeared that the doctor was going to be finished with surgeries previous to mine sooner than expected. I was put into the pre-surgery room about 11 or 11:30 but didn't actually get into the surgery until around 3:00. I've known Noella for years through my Church and she came in to encourage me. I have to tell you, I was freaking out for two weeks with this upcoming surgery and the "C" word of vulvar cancer. I was sort of a mess internally and scared even though I have a strong faith. When Noella came in the room, and she continued to come back in every chance she got a minute to bring me comfort. I'm so embarrassed cause I burst out crying and told her how scared I was and I swear that the Holy Spirit gave her the right words to comfort me and calm me. She hugged me and told me it was all going to be okay and prayed with meto get my mind off myself. I believe that God sent her to me at this time as an "earthly angel" to help my husband and me through this period of anxiety and worry. She is such a good listener. In Hospice training years ago, I remember they said the word silent is in the word listen. She was silent and listened to my concerns and stupid rambling so patiently and then with her peaceful demeanor talked and soothed my worries away and gave me hope and encouragement. She never seemed to be in a rush to leave my side although I know she probably had a thousand other things to attend to. She is simply an amazing, kind nurse and I was blessed that God sent her to me during this time of anxiety. I was blessed to have my surgery at this hospital with people who perform their duties with such kindness and care.
