I was in charge of two units one night, and it was one of those busy, nonstop shifts. Nita showed what a good team player and a good nurse she is. Not only did she help other busy nurses, but she also went above and beyond to support the team in CDU.

She has shown her expertise and also maintained a positive attitude that helped the rest of the team and me throughout the shift. She always maintains her professionalism when dealing with difficult patients or difficult family members.

She always provides excellent care to each patient she has. Her patients describe her as “wonderful“ and “great. “ She is also resilient with any patient assignment I need to give her, especially in situations when I need to switch assignments for another nurse due to her expertise. I love working with her.

 We travelled to Fairfax for my mother’s funeral, who had passed four days ago. Early Saturday, one day before her service, I was admitted to Nita’s unit with kidney stone pain. I was very worried about missing my mom’s funeral.

Nita was very comforting and supportive. She took great care of me to make sure I was ok, coordinated repeatedly with the doctors and other team so they knew my situation. Nita also made my case with the charge nurse to allow my husband to stay with me overnight and arranged for a recliner for him as well.

I have been to hospitals many times with my health issues, and Nita is the most professional, caring and compassionate nurse I have ever met.
