Throughout, Nilusha not only accommodated me with friendliness and patience but also made a concerted effort to help me understand what was going on.
My grandfather was under Nilusha’s care for a few days. My grandfather was very stressed and disoriented during much of the stay due to some memory and language difficulties, but Nilusha (along with multiple CNAs) worked hard to patiently support him while he was in her care. Due to my grandfather’s agitation, he could be difficult and paranoid, demanding that I repeatedly ask Nilusha the same questions in his presence. He was also not cooperative with guidance, which I’m sure was frustrating and time-consuming. Throughout, Nilusha not only accommodated me with friendliness and patience but also made a concerted effort to help me understand what was going on. She also worked very hard to assist us on the day he was discharged – assisting with questions about oxygen systems, reviewing follow-up steps I’d need to take as a caregiver, and her notes were so thorough that I was able to use them to brief my other family members afterward. I always find these stays difficult with the rotating doctors and unclear timelines of evaluations, and I’ve sadly accompanied my grandfather on multiple PCU visits in the last year. Nilusha’s work during this last visit was the most supported I’ve ever felt during one of these stays. I think that her expertise in working with patients and families is wonderful, and I hope she knows that it is appreciated. I think she would be a perfect recipient of this recognition, and I nominate her strongly. While I hope not to see her again soon in the PCU, if I do, I will feel comfortable that my family is in good hands.

Nilusha has been attentive, kind, supportive, and informative. My father is being treated for sepsis due to pancreatic cancer. During this difficult time, it has been a gift from God to have a team of providers who are so compassionate. Thank you to the staff who are working on my father’s behalf and taking good care of him. We are trusting in the Lord for a miracle. You are all also part of that miracle.
