She continually looks for opportunities for staff to grow, learn, and improve their practice because she knows that educated, confident nurses provide the best care.
I would like to nominate Nikole for a DAISY Leader Award because her leadership has had a profound impact not only on our department but across the entire Memorial Hermann system. Nikole motivates staff to provide the most exceptional care and reminds us why our standards are high, because our patients deserve it! She consistently holds employees accountable, not to be difficult, but because she believes every patient deserves safe, excellent, compassionate care. She promotes a culture of excellence and professionalism while still being approachable, supportive, and encouraging.
One of Nikole’s greatest strengths as a leader is her focus on education. She continually looks for opportunities for staff to grow, learn, and improve their practice because she knows that educated, confident nurses provide the best care. She invests in her team and pushes us to be better, not for recognition, but because it is what our patients deserve.
Nikole is the definition of a servant leader. She works tirelessly behind the scenes to improve our EMR at the system level, always with the goal of making workflows safer, more efficient, and ultimately better for patient care. Many staff may never see the hours she puts into this work, but we benefit from it every single day.
Her leadership extends far beyond our department. Nikole is always the first to volunteer our team to pilot programs and new initiatives because she wants to be part of moving healthcare forward, not standing still. She looks for innovative ways to improve processes, patient care, and staff engagement and then rallies her team to put them into action.
Through her involvement in the system, Professional Governance Congress, she helps empower nurses, unify all MH campuses, and advance healthcare by advocating for meaningful changes that impact both patients and staff. She gives nurses a voice and works to ensure that decisions are made with frontline staff in mind.
Nikole does not lead for recognition. She leads because she cares deeply about patients, her team, and the future of healthcare. Her influence, dedication, and leadership make our hospital better every day, and she truly deserves a DAISY Leader Award.
