Nicole Lough, BSN, RN
I would like to nominate Nicole, a NICU nurse, for a DAISY Award in recognition of the exceptional care she has provided to my son and our family.
Having a premature baby in the NICU is one of the most stressful and emotional experiences a parent can go through. From the beginning, Nicole has been knowledgeable, compassionate, and incredibly supportive. She has taken the time to teach me how to properly handle and care for my premature son, helping me feel more confident as a parent during a very difficult time.
Nicole consistently acknowledged my stress, fears, and worries without judgment. She always offered comforting words and reassurance when I needed it most. Beyond providing excellent medical care, she treated me with kindness and understanding, making me feel heard and supported.
We shared many meaningful conversations during her shifts, and those interactions helped ease my anxiety. Knowing that Nicole was on the night shift watching over my son gave me a sense of comfort and peace that is hard to put into words. I knew he was in capable, caring hands.
Nicole exemplifies what nursing should be—skilled, compassionate, patient, and dedicated not only to her patients but also to their families. Her care has made a lasting impact on me during one of the most vulnerable times of my life, and I am deeply grateful for everything she has done for my son and our family.
