I am a radiation oncologist and have had the pleasure of working with Nicole for several months now. Radiation treatment is often scary for patients because it is hard to understand, the side effects build slowly, and the learning curve is difficult. Nicole is an experienced and skilled nurse who creates easy rapport with patients while also coaching them through difficult radiation treatments with ease; she makes patients feel comfortable.

I have had multiple patients tell me that her bright personality, sense of humor, no-nonsense coaching, and compassionate care really helped them get through the toughest parts of cancer treatment. Her experience with managing radiation side effects and resourcefulness has come in handy more than once. Most recently, she came up with a plan to make a patient more comfortable during a radiation mask fitting right after surgery, and I think it was extremely creative.

Most importantly, she takes time with each patient to understand their individual story and particular challenges or fears and uses this information to guide them through treatment. They truly feel heard by her, and they feel comfortable sharing both their laughter and tears. She is also a mentor to other nurses in the department and is always willing to help. Nicole is an outstanding nurse who demonstrates excellence.
