I was pregnant with our fourth and final child. At work, I realized I was leaking fluid. I went to the hospital, and it turned out that I had PPROM. I was scared. Super scared! My water had never actually broken with any of my other children, and none had ever been born early. I was 31 weeks and three days, with a goal of making it to 34 weeks. This goal seemed hefty based on all the information from doctors and research. This happened right before Christmas. I had three children at home that I was heartbroken over missing the holiday season with. I had the baby in my stomach that I was terrified I was going to cause harm to.
Then entered Nicole Cooley. Nicole was one of my first nurses on the floor. Nicole had the exact personality that I needed during my stay from the moment she walked in my door. She was positive, reassuring, and always ready to answer any of my panicked questions. When I was worried, Nicole was able to calm my worries. Without her, I would have spent my entire stay in an absolute panic. Instead, she calmed my nerves from the beginning and got me in a much better headspace to make it another 2 1/2 weeks so that our baby girl could be born at 34 weeks. A rarity.
She is a leader on the floor. It is obvious from the first meeting. She has the exact personality that stressed mothers need as they are going into the delivery process. I am forever thankful for Nicole. She deeply cares about her patients and shows it in every interaction, big and small.
