Nico went above and beyond when a pediatric trauma patient was brought in by EMS and began to rapidly decompensate, requiring intubation and numerous medications. Not only was he taking care of this patient, but when met with significant transport delays that due to his injuries would have led to hours of delays in his life altering surgery; he worked with the Charge RN and our local Prince William County EMS teams to jump in the back of an ambulance to personally escort this patient, maintain his IV medications and monitor the ventilator to Inova Fairfax. This had the patient within the OR before the time transport was even quoted for arriving at HAMC, and the patient was ultimately able to be discharged home.
