I need to take a moment to express my gratitude to one of the best nurses I know. Nick currently works on Med Psych but he really just works wherever he is needed. He has the skills to float to all Stress Center Units and does it with such great expertise and never a complaint about being away from his “home” unit- he just goes where patients need him. Med Psych has had several patients who are with us for weeks and months until they have a safe discharge plan. Often, patients can have behaviors that make it difficult to create a safe discharge plan and can be challenging to care for. I can’t even begin to count the number of times doctors, social workers, other nurses, etc. have said “Nick just does so well with that patient” and “They had such a good day yesterday because Nick was their nurse”. He takes so much time and has so much patience for everyone he cares for. I’ve seen him have an agitated and aggressive patient whom others might immediately put in restraints, but his de-escalation skills always improve the situation and create a therapeutic rapport that supports a healing environment.

Nick has oriented several nurses and exceeds all expectations of a preceptor. He is meticulous in his practice and shows “what right looks like” 100% of the time. New RNs are set up for success by spending their orientation time with him. His work ethic is so impressive and he always gives 110% to his patients and team. We are all so lucky to work with Nick and beyond thankful for him!
