This delivery was so different, but Nichole made the day a dream.
Nichole was my nurse during the birth of my second daughter, and I will never forget the incredible care she gave my family and me. While welcoming a new baby is always exciting, for me it was also filled with overwhelming anxiety and grief. Two years ago, I lost my first daughter, at five months old. She was born at the same hospital, and it was also where we were brought on the night of the accident. The physical pain of contractions was nothing compared to the emotional chaos I was experiencing.

This delivery was so different, but Nichole made the day a dream. What meant the most was how she included our late daughter in such a thoughtful, genuine, and impactful way. As a grieving mother, all I want is for my child to still be remembered and included, and she gave me that gift. She spoke her name, asked questions about her birth and her life, and treated her memory with such love and respect. We had a picture of her with us, and whenever we needed to move the table, Nichole would gently let us know she was moving her picture for a moment, such a small act, but one that meant everything. I carried so much fear and worry leading up to this delivery, but this person’s compassion, presence, and support allowed me to breathe again. She helped turn one of the most emotionally complex days of my life into a truly beautiful and memorable experience. I will always be grateful to her for the way she cared for not just me and my newborn, but also for the daughter we carry in our hearts forever.
