Even though Nerea has only been with us for just over a year, her impact has been incredibly positive. She has left a lasting legacy of unity and positivity within our Nursing, Midwifery, and AHP teams, fostering inclusiveness and collaboration that has driven us all towards excellence.
One of Nerea's standout achievements has been her commitment to increasing the diversity and strength of our workforce. By nurturing an inclusive environment, she has built a team of transformational leaders who continuously strive for excellence. Her leadership style is visible and credible, inspiring her teams to grow both professionally and personally. Nerea is always present across the Trust, visiting every area and promoting an open and honest culture of inquiry and support.
This has been evident in Nerea's open-door policy for all staff across the trust and in her being reliably found in the boardroom at 4 pm every Friday afternoon, so staff knew exactly how to access her. Nerea's support for all teams goes beyond just professional development. She has implemented many strategies that have led to better outcomes for our patients and staff. Her focus on well-being and creating a fair and just culture has made everyone feel valued, respected, and empowered to do their best.
She champions our shared decision councils, Professional Nurse Advocate service, and the ongoing development of our Matrons and ward managers, which has most recently been seen in developing away days for the ward managers and planning the matron away day in the near future. Her dedication to her role and her team is unwavering. She genuinely cares about the well-being of her staff and patients, consistently going above and beyond to ensure the highest quality of care is delivered.
When challenges come up, she quickly finds solutions to bridge gaps, ensuring continuous improvement, and she holds us all firmly to account to ensure patients achieve improved outcomes. Her ability to lead with compassion and integrity makes her a perfect representation of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.
