We spoke for too long, as I knew they were busy. I got to let out all my emotions, and she listened! I know this because Nataly’s responses were dead on.
While taking the "night shift" for my passing friend, I was introduced to Nataly. She was compassionate to me, by arranging for me to be comfortable with sleeping bed stuff. She then explained the medication regimen - every two hours, Morphine and Ativan. And then she said I was a good friend for wanting to be there for him. We spoke for too long, as I knew they were busy. I got to let out all my emotions, and she listened! I know this because Nataly’s responses were dead on. We talked about my friend and his military experience, the regression of his illness, and the causes and reasons. She spoke to me as if I had a brain and could understand medical concepts. Then she did the "unthinkable". She asked if we could pray! OMG! Yes! She asked about my faith. Christian! She’s catholic. I said just pray. She did, and amen she was spot on for what my friend needed. His anxiety left him for a moment. This fine young nurse exhibiting skills far above life skills is very deserving of this award! Now after we had prayed, she had to leave but before she left, she asked if I needed a bible. I was again taken aback! Uh...Uh...No I have my iPad that has the scriptures. She said then, "Let him hear" THATS IT! Just "let him hear". So, I did. I read the bible to him for about an hour. He just closed his lips, breathed through his oxygen catheter, and slept. She popped her head in once, saw what I was doing, and was gone! Now, I've been in the Coast Guard (Hospital Corpsman 3rd class), was an EMT, drove an ambulance, took patients to and from hemodialysis, and was a deputy sheriff in two states. But it's not about me. It’s about Nataly! She is a natural-born nurse exhibiting talents only a few get much less possess beforehand. (My friend passed away before I got to see him again.)
