I called in my nurse, Natalie, and she took one look and sprang into action.
Natalie was one of the beautiful nurses who looked after me in the hospital. I had a throat operation, large swelling of the throat. I spoke to the doctors, showed them the swelling, and told them I need a drainage as the swelling was getting worse. They were not prepared to give me release, as I have been on blood thinners. Doctors said to wait for another four days – that was in their morning rounds. By lunch time, my neck had filled with fluid. I was very worried and thought that if it got any bigger, it would block my airways. I called in my nurse, Natalie, and she took one look and sprang into action. Called doctors, gave them all the information. Doctors were at a meeting, promising they would discuss her request. No answer after 2 hours. Natalie was back on the phone and explained my situation again. The doctor called me for a meeting. Doctors decided to do a drainage after all operations were completed. I was taken to the theatre at 9 pm, spoke to a lovely Chinese doctor. He put in drainage, what a release. The doctor came back on his own time. His name was N. I nicknamed that nurse “Angel Tiger” – she never gave up on me, and she no doubt helped to save my life.
