My father was suddenly very unwell and it was heartbreaking for us to see him like this as a family. My Father had been having seizures all day due to a possible bleed on his brain. Naomi was his named nurse on the night shift; within 2 hours of her being there, she had completely cleaned his cubicle, washed him, changed his clothes, and got him onto a comfy bed.

She ensured he was comfortable, clean and settled. Naomi was constantly checking his neurological observations, holding his hand, talking to him up close and slowly so that he could clearly hear and see her. She was warm and kind when interacting with my father, always smiling at him. She was patient, compassionate and caring.

I was overwhelmed with emotion watching Naomi care for my dad. You could tell that she truly cared for him and made everything she did patient-focused. We noticed that she is within her Preceptorship, and this is incredibly inspiring. I have no doubt that Naomi will continue to be an incredible nurse who remains focused on the holistic care of patients and families. We really hope that Naomi gets the credit that she deserves as an Extraordinary Nurse.
