I was the daughter of a very sick patient, and my mother's hospital course was not going as planned. In fact, her health was declining rapidly, and as a healthcare leader myself, I was frustrated and afraid. 

I decided to nominate Ms. Neuman for this award because she was NOT my mother's nurse. However, when the transport monitor wasn't working and my mother needed to go for a test, she was called in to assist and did so without hesitation even though she was busy with her own patients. When my mother's nurse went on break, she covered, she advocated, she explained, and above all, she CARED!

My mother eventually healed and was discharged home, and I want to thank Ms. Neuman for the small but powerful part she played in my mother's journey to healing. She also reaffirmed my faith in the next generation of amazing nurses!
