As a retired nursing educator, I have high expectations for the care patients receive, and Moriah and Naomi showed us what excellent nursing care looks like during my husband’s stay on 6E. He was transferred there after CABG surgery and was in significant pain, especially during the first 24 hours, when it had been difficult to get his pain under control. When Moriah and Naomi began caring for him, they listened closely to how he was feeling, administered his scheduled and pain medications according to his pain rating and orders, and followed up to make sure he was getting relief. They took time to explain each medication and what they were doing, always treating him with patience, dignity, and warmth.

What made their care even more meaningful was seeing them work together. Their teamwork was seamless; they were attentive to my husband’s needs and supported one another while making sure he felt heard and comfortable. Neither of them knew I was a nursing educator. They cared for him this way because it is clearly the standard they hold themselves to and the standard they are passing on to one another. During a vulnerable time for our family, their kindness and attentiveness gave us confidence that he was in capable, compassionate hands. They were among the most caring nurses we encountered throughout his stay, and we are deeply grateful.

This is the first time our hospital has recognized a preceptor/preceptee pair, making this a special honor!

Thank you, Naomi, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
