I am nominating my co-worker and best friend, Nahtanha, for the DAISY Award because of her unwavering dedication to providing compassionate, holistic, patient-centered care. She consistently goes above and beyond, attending to not only the needs of her patients but also their families, ensuring that even the smallest details are not overlooked.

For example, Nahtanha always makes sure visitors staying overnight have a recliner to rest on, offers meals to homeless patients, and ensures they have basic necessities, sometimes even bringing items from her own home or purchasing them out of her own pocket. Her commitment to the dignity and well-being of every individual she encounters, including her co-workers, is truly extraordinary.

Recently, she demonstrated this compassion in a particularly moving way. She noticed that a homeless patient, who frequents our ER, appeared more neglected than usual. His hair was matted, and he was in desperate need of personal grooming. Nahtanha took it upon herself to assist him with his basic needs, such as hygiene, including grooming his hair and skin. Her care and attention left the patient feeling deeply grateful. The entire staff was inspired by her selflessness and dedication. Nahtanha should be recognized every day for the extraordinary care she provides, but this moment exemplifies her kind and compassionate spirit. She truly embodies what it means to be a nurse and is an inspiration to us all.
