She never once wavered in her compassion, kindness, and care for my father.
If you ever find yourself in a situation where your father is given a 5% chance to survive his diagnosis once (or twice) - there are two people you’ll need to make it to the other side, God and Myra from ICU. We prayed a lot for my father to pull through, and we could breathe a little easier when we knew Myra was caring for him during those three weeks in the ICU. The first day I met Myra, I rushed in from Houston - afraid of the condition I would find my father in. She knew his situation wasn’t good and I knew it too - but she never once wavered in her compassion, kindness, and care for my father. We were always excited to see when Myra was back - my father appeared better, he was cleaner, and we saw improvements. Everyone in the ICU was amazing, but Myra - she is special. She is a nurse that you come by once in a blue moon - one I wish I could clone for my own company and one that is deserving of every recognition for her hard work, dedication, and passion for caring for my father, like he was her own. Now that he is transitioning to LTAC, there are definitely fears of the unknown because Myra will not be around - but we will be forever grateful that she gave him a fighting chance. If and when you recognize Myra, please let our family know. As a previous hospital administrator and DVP of a Fortune 200 company, this award is meaningful and even more special if the family can attend in a small way.
