I am truly humbled and deeply honored to receive The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

As a nurse working in both the Male and Female Cardiac Wards for the past three years, I have had many meaningful experiences that have reinforced why I chose this profession. Caring for cardiac patients has taught me the importance of compassion, patience, and presence, especially during moments of fear and uncertainty.

One experience that stands out involved a patient admitted with acute heart failure and multiple cardiac complications. The patient was extremely anxious and frightened, not only by the seriousness of the condition, but also by the sudden change in their life and independence. I understood how overwhelming this can be for both the patient and their family.

During one particularly difficult shift, the patient’s condition deteriorated rapidly. Vital signs became unstable, breathing was labored, and fear was clearly visible. I remained with the patient throughout the crisis, closely monitoring their condition, administering medications as ordered, and coordinating with the medical team. Most importantly, I stayed at the bedside, offering reassurance and emotional support during a very vulnerable time.

By the next morning, the patient’s condition had stabilized. Over the following days, I witnessed not only physical improvement but also emotional recovery. Seeing the patient regain confidence, dignity, and hope reminded me that nursing is not only about clinical care but also about human connection.

Working in both male and female cardiac wards over the past three years has strengthened my skills, resilience, and dedication to patient-centered care. I am deeply grateful for this recognition and proud to serve my patients with compassion and commitment every day.
