As a previous nurse at UMC, I must say that Morgan on the SCU is one of the most compassionate nurses I have ever met.

My grandmother was transferred into the SCU and received amazing care. Morgan fully embraces the science and art of nursing in the tender moments of death. Comments like, "her skin is like silk", and "those hands look like they have worked hard their entire life", helped our family to know he was honored to be part of her last moments. He listened to us, sat with us, explained the dying process and made my grandmother's passing a little easier.

My grandmother was always concerned about her hair. After she passed, he let us have all the time we needed, and then softly asked if he could have a brief moment with her to take care of a few things. When we returned, he had brushed out her hair; what I would consider the ultimate act of compassion and honor. He walked us to the elevator and said "We'll take care of her" as though he still viewed her body as his patient.

He should coach other nurses. I would love for all my students to follow him and learn from his wisdom. I have interacted with a lot of nurses, but Morgan will always stand out among the numbers.

Thank you,
