My first experience with Monique was on the phone from Connecticut. The fact that during one of the darkest times in my life, she had the compassion to return my call and give me a little light on the situation I would be facing when I got to Florida. Most times, you wait for the call that doesn’t come. Monique was also my daughter’s nurse when I arrived to see her in person in the ICU. Her compassion and professionalism were extremely appreciated, given the circumstances. As a nurse myself, you have to walk a fine line between dealing with the patient and the family, given the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality. Her compassion for my daughter, withdrawing from a ventilator after a drug overdose, was heartfelt. She managed everything with grace, professionalism, and skill. I will be forever grateful to Monique and the staff of the ICU for their teamwork and professionalism, and most of all, compassion that cannot be faked.
