My elderly grandfather (86 years) was hospitalized a couple of weeks ago due to a series of medical complications. This nurse has shown not only my grandpa but also our family nothing but patience and compassion. She is kind, thorough, patient, and all of the other qualities you would want in a caregiver. She has gone above and beyond for us with encouraging words and gentleness. As a family, we try to always have someone present with him so he is not alone. On one day in particular, he was left alone for a few short hours. In that time, his heart doctor came in with an important update and prognosis. The nurse relayed every bit of information to us directly when we returned. She spent half an hour of her time explaining every word the doctor had reported. She even offered to call me directly the next time the doctor came in and I was not present. Having her at my grandpa's side has made this process much easier. While my grandfather has not been released yet from the hospital, he is expecting a full recovery, and he is counting down the days until she is back on shift.
