I want to recognize Ms. Monica for her kindness during my procedure. She helped me understand the process, she explained who I would be speaking with before the procedure, she was very patient with all of that especially because I'm deaf and can only understand others using my speech-to-text device. She also understood my anxiety in the OR and held my hand. I think she knew I was scared, knowing I could not hear her at that point. I was unable to use my communication device. That gesture really touched me because many people do not understand the fear a deaf person has when they are unable to read their surroundings. I thank her for her kindness and patience with my fear and anxiety.
