My husband has been a patient on CSICU for one month now and will be here for a bit longer. We have had some scary things happen so far. Monica was the charge nurse on the first day we had to re-intubate him and rush him back to the OR. She didn't leave my side, keeping me informed through everything. On the days to follow, she came to check on us and make sure I am taking care of myself as well. Seven days later we had to take him back to the OR and Monica was right there to help me through once again.
She is my ICU angel. When I am at my low she helps me back to reality one day at a time. Not having my husband able to hold me - Monica made it better when she said I could lay with him, that it was okay that I was feeling this way and she helped allow this to happen. Monica's hugs are the best as well. She lets me cry if I need to in her arms. Being a health care provider myself, this is hard for us to do, but she has helped me know that it is okay.
