Monica went above and beyond. She touched both my grandpa and our families’ hearts. I currently am in nursing school, and I aspire to be the nurse Monica is. She took care of my grandpa with grace and love. She spent time with him talking to him, listening to him and at times made him forget the predicament he was in. My grandfather has terminal cancer and Monica shed tears over her last shift seeing him, knowing he was going home. We all cried like babies, and I can tell you, THAT is how you nurse. 

She made my grandpa feel human, not just like a job and a patient. She has touched our hearts and has set the standards high for the next nurses out there, as well as myself when I graduate. What a beautiful person she is. The way she took care of him was beyond her scope of practice. The love she poured into our families and my grandpa will never be forgotten.

To add on, she shared some things about herself that were so very touchy and it felt good for my grandpa to not just see HER as a nurse and someone taking care of him, but also as a person. My grandpa felt that when she was his nurse, everything was okay and he didn’t mind being there. She lightened the load not only physically, but also mentally for him.
