Monica Gonzalez demonstrates exemplary leadership, clinical expertise, and unwavering dedication to advancing a culture of excellence at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Monica serves as the lead and primary subject matter expert for several critical organizational programs, including supporting the Evidence-Based Practice foundation within the Nurse Residency Program, providing practice support for UCMC’s Restraint Committee, serving as the lead and primary reviewer for UCMC policies and procedures, and acting as the EBP subject matter expert and mentor for the NPC Chairs and Professional Governance Members. As a Pediatric CNS, she plays a pivotal role in advancing nursing practice and improving patient care outcomes through various quality improvement initiatives not only within Comer but across the institution.
Monica’s collaborative spirit and commitment to excellence are evident in her partnership with the Centralized Education team, Professional Governance, Operational Leadership, Risk Management, and Informatics (to name a few). She fosters a supportive environment grounded in trust, compassion, and mentorship. Her leadership extends beyond program development; she provides ongoing guidance and support to a talented group of CNSs, empowering them to grow professionally and contribute meaningfully to patient care and organizational goals.
A passionate advocate for evidence-based practice, Monica serves as a valuable resource to the entire Professional Governance Team and is instrumental in disseminating vital information related to practice improvements, quality initiatives, and process enhancements. Her ability to translate complex clinical evidence into practical applications has led to measurable improvements in nursing workflows and patient safety.
