Monica Bendt, RN
While I was a patient on 3 North, one of my nurses, Monica Bendt, went above and beyond her normal duties.
I was an inpatient for a couple of weeks. Monica was super sweet and treated me like she would her own grandmother. On one day, I had a particularly hard day where I had to have an intubation procedure; Monica went out of her way to spoil me with new pajamas, a blanket, underwear, and some personal care items. This kind of thoughtful care is not something that can be learned or taught.
There needs to be more people like her in healthcare, and I believe she should be recognized and rewarded for not only treating my physical ailments, but my mental and spiritual health as well. She made my stay much more bearable. She is a sweetheart. And I get good hugs from her too.
