While others were afraid to jump into helping with CPR, Mohammed and I joined the rotation of compressions and were able to effectively participate in a critical event in a time of need.
Passion for Nursing - Mohammed is entering the nursing field as a new career and is devoted to his schooling so he can learn as much as he can to be a great, knowledgeable nurse. He takes his studies very seriously.
Problem Solving - Mohammed is always willing to be a team player and help his peers in the clinical setting to facilitate great patient care. He’s always a helping hand.
Respect for Patients and Families - Patients and families are always respected during Mohammed's time of care.
Collaboration (working as a team) - Mohammed is being nominated by me for a Student DAISY Award. During our first clinical rotation, he went above and beyond the expectations of the 1st semester student nurse role. Mohammed and I were assigned a unit with a code blue. While others were afraid to jump into helping with CPR, Mohammed and I joined the rotation of compressions and were able to effectively participate in a critical event in a time of need. Mohammed’s compressions were on point! Although our patient did not survive, we were able to provide care when it was needed the most, in a very chaotic environment. At that moment, I was so proud of my classmate. I don’t know of many other first-semester clinical students who would have had the courage to join the code team like we did that day, and I will always be in awe of his willingness to help others. I knew then that Mohammed would make a great nurse because he had the ambition, drive, and determination to ultimately provide the utmost patient care. Mohammed always shows great empathy. Mohammed will make a great nurse.
