My father was a lung transplant hopeful patient. He was a strong, happy, and compliant patient. He would have increased episodes of shortness of breath and drops in oxygen saturation. Misty cared for my father with such compassion and moved quickly to ensure my dad's comfort. She was very knowledgeable and impressed everyone in our family with how good she was at helping my dad feel calmer and more comfortable. The days that we had Misty were the days that we had the least anxiety because my dad would be calmer and worry less because he knew that if something were to happen, Misty would move quickly. Misty took great care of my dad and answered questions for us, even during the most difficult times. My dad had a complication with his ecmo a day that Misty was not there. The next day, she hugged me with such a sincere hug. She continued to care for my father until his final day. She made sure that we would have some types of memory keepsakes of my father, thinking of everyone in our family, including my father's grandchildren. My dad was very grateful for Misty, and so are we. Thank you so much, Misty. We are eternally grateful to you. You are a great example of what a nurse should be, one who is guided by her heart.
