No matter the number assigned to the wife called, Miriam always responded in the most pleasant tone and reassured her that her husband was fine.
If you have ever worked with Miriam, you would agree that she was an exceptional nursing assistant, and that level of care and concern has carried over into her LPN practice. While working with Miriam during the Thanksgiving holiday I observed Miriam providing excellent patient care, anticipating his needs, and always asking if there was anything else that she can do for him before leaving his room. She ensured that he was comfortable and pain-free. Her tone and sincerity seem to relax the patient.

Upon talking to the patient, he expressed that he refused to wear a hospital-supplied CPAP because he had one at home. Miriam spoke with his wife several times and worked with her to ensure that the patient could have his personal CPAP. The patient's wife would call frequently during the shift for a status update. No matter the number assigned to the wife called, Miriam always responded in the most pleasant tone and reassured her that her husband was fine. Not only did Miriam handle the patient’s needs she expressed concern for the wife by taking time to talk to her about her concerns and easing her mind. Miriam also asked the wife to call her… We are all expected to give exceptional care to all our veterans, and we do. My reason for nominating Miriam is simple, she goes above and beyond her duty as a nurse and is a caring and concerned human being.
