September 2026 Honoree
Mindy McLaughlin, LPN
Mindy McLaughlin has been working for Tel Hai for over 25 years and has had her first and only nursing job there, which shows her incredible dedication to Tel Hai. She truly views Tel Hai as her family, often reminiscing about past team members and residents.
Mindy is involved in every aspect of the HCC operations, from hiring, education, and staffing to bringing in the DAISY Award to Tel Hai in order to honor exemplary nurses who go above and beyond their duties. I can think of no one better to fit this description than Mindy herself. She helps with the basic care needs of residents, administering flu shots to team members, team member celebrations, emergency drills, outbreak testing, and is involved with multiple committees at Tel Hai. She teaches CPR, feeding courses, the Eden initiative, and is a certified CNA instructor. She has a great rapport with all team members, including those outside of her department. She is always willing to help out in dining rooms, transport residents to events and activities, and has even been known to start activities or join in herself in the evenings to keep the residents active and engaged.
Mindy lives and breathes the principles of STICC every day. She is flexible with her work schedule to be able to work with every shift as needed. She remains a source of information and is always willing to lend an ear to any team member with an issue. She is a true empath and feels for the plights of our residents, team members, and families. Mindy goes out of her way to get to know people on a personal level, seeing the whole person. She shines when dealing with residents who have dementia and other cognitive deficits, and goes out of her way to treat them with respect, talk to them, pull them into her office for 1:1, or just comfort them when they are confused or upset. Mindy has always been the one responsible for recognizing others, even when that recognition doesn't always come to her. She is in some way involved with nearly every level of care and every department and makes it her mission to always take on a task, even when she already does so much behind the scenes. She has been and will continue to be an asset to the nursing department for years to come and deserves this recognition for all that she does for everyone at Tel Hai.
