My friend of over 40 years was rushed to the Baptist Health Emergency Room by EMS, critically ill and barely breathing. When his wife and I were allowed to see him, he was already intubated, and Mikelah was by his side, caring for him with extraordinary focus and compassion.

At one point, we watched as she expertly directed a team of nine other staff members, each playing a role in keeping him alive. It was a long time before he was stable enough to be transferred to the ICU, and during that time, Mikelah never left his side—except to find the physician when needed.

She kept us informed, answered all of our questions with honesty and patience, and offered reassurance during one of the most critical moments of our lives. We truly believe Mikelah played a vital role in keeping him alive until specialists could take over. We are profoundly grateful that she chose to become a nurse.

Every patient is different, and Mikelah brought not only a wide range of clinical knowledge but also strong leadership and unwavering dedication during an incredibly serious situation. Her presence was a blessing to us, and we believe she deserves recognition for the exceptional care she gives to Baptist Health and its patients. May God bless her for the work she does.
