Mike has all the best qualities that make him a great nurse and an even greater person.
From the moment he introduced himself to me as my nurse, Mike calmed my rising anxiety level. He spoke softly, and he talked me through everything he was doing. He told me what medication he was giving me and what it was used for. He kept me updated on my heart rate. He was very attentive to my needs and my comfort. He stayed close by and monitored me, but also made sure to verbally ask how I was doing. When it came time for my procedure, he walked back with me, helped me get on the table and settled, and again talked me through what was going to happen in the machine. He explained the instructions I would hear and assured me that even though he would not be in the room, he and the tech could hear me and would be close by. After the test was over, he made sure I was ok after getting the medication for my scan. He helped me to sit up and then stand up. He made sure to hold my arm to make sure I was steady on my feet. He even helped me put my necklace back on. Yes, all of these things may be what he's supposed to do as being "part of his job," but all of what he did affects the part you don't get to see. All of what he did made me, the patient with a high anxiety level, walk in the door, calm almost immediately. He made me feel like I mattered, and most importantly, he made me feel like he cared. It is definitely the little things that matter when it comes to patient care. Thank you for all that you did.

Mike was the nurse who took fabulous care of me during my CTA procedure. Mike is kind, extremely knowledgeable, and made me feel safe. I was able to ask him questions about the procedure, and he explained every single thing in depth, which I greatly appreciated.

On Wednesday, I was an outpatient for a CT scan in the Radiology Department at Lankenau. Mike Mayer was the nurse assigned to me. I was very anxious and nervous about the test. Mike put me completely at ease. He explained everything to me and answered my questions. He also kept my husband informed as to how I was doing, which we greatly appreciated.
