My uncle was admitted in mid-April with kidney function issues, chest pain, and high blood pressure. His condition was very complex, and a rotator cuff tear was identified during the visit. The family was very concerned about the complexity of the case and considered a transfer; however, Nurse Mike communicated clearly and put the family at ease. I personally witnessed and listened in as he spoke with the patient and family. He relayed what was going on in terms the family could understand. I was very impressed by how he related to the family and the patient and translated the physician's information so they could understand the next steps. My uncle was eventually transferred to the med-surg floor. While he was on the med-surg floor, Mike even took the time to visit with him to make sure he was comfortable. They really went the extra mile, and the patient and family were very thankful.
