My mom was admitted to the 5E General Surgery unit, and during her stay, we were blessed to have Michelle R as her nurse the first night. She immediately made us feel like more than just another patient and family. She took the time to explain everything, answered every question with patience, and always treated my mom with dignity, kindness, and genuine compassion.

What stood out the most was that after my mom had to stay longer than expected, Michelle was no longer assigned to her. Even so, she made a point to stop by just to check on my mom and see how she was doing. She didn’t have to do that—it wasn’t part of her assignment—but it showed how deeply she truly cares about her patients. That simple act meant so much to our family and brought comfort during an uncertain time.

Michelle consistently demonstrated clinical excellence, professionalism, and compassion while working collaboratively with the entire healthcare team. She made my mom feel safe, heard, and cared for every step of the way. She created a memorable experience for our family during a difficult hospitalization, and her kindness will never be forgotten.

Nurses like Michelle are the reason families feel hope during challenging times. She embodies everything the DAISY Award stands for, and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this recognition.
