Michelle is an excellent healthcare resource because of her technical expertise, her great and supportive attitude, and are genuine care for the well-being of the patient.
Michelle always put me first. She was diligent in her communications with me, always making sure that her visit would be scheduled at a time convenient for me. If there was a delay and change of plans, she reported them to me in a timely manner. Her diligence, courtesy, and kindness extended through every important feature of our working relationship. Michelle demonstrated excellence in several important ways:
First, she was always up to date regarding the unfolding facts of my treatment and came prepared in her visits to address any open issues. Michelle was comprehensively knowledgeable about the science and technical details of my treatment, especially catheter problems in their resolution. When questions arose in any aspect of treatment, Michelle was on the phone with my PCP and urologist to get a resolution.
She was always on time and had a wonderful, positive attitude during our visits. She helped explain and resolve areas where I was experiencing administrative problems, such as my supply requirements. In this case, I needed frequent attention to my catheter, and catheter changes more often than the norm. I had a terrible time with catheter blockages, UTIs, and physical trauma to the urethra. Michelle helped manage the situation and was a strong advocate for providing a greater-than-usual supply of catheters, Stat Locks, and the like.
From the beginning, Michelle recognized and respected my desire to be as proactive in my treatment as possible. She showed the types and causes of catheter blockages and the means of resolving them through irrigation. She reviewed with me the types of microbial invasions I experienced on multiple occasions in the appropriate medications prescribed by the ER, my PCP, and my urologist. Michelle was also a great educator on how my daily routines impacted catheter functioning. For example, she was very attentive to how hydration, the regularity of bowel movements, and sterile techniques headed off potential problems.
