Michelle Moyer-Litwiller, BSN

Michelle is truly an exceptional nurse, and the CVICU is lucky to have her. She was my mom’s nurse several days during her stay. Every day that she had my mom as a patient, she would call me at the end of her shift to give me “one last update”. She cared for my mother not only physically but also emotionally.

There was a particular night that my mom got very anxious after I left. Michelle spent most of the end of her shift with my mom, holding her hand, and talking to her about my daughter and me. She had taken the time to get to know me and listened close enough to remember my daughter’s name and was able to provide that link and emotional support to my mom.

It’s one thing to take care of a patient and their physical needs but to take the extra time to notice and take care of their emotional needs shows how exceptional of a human being Michelle is.

On the days that she wasn’t Mom’s nurse, she would still pop in just to say hi and see how I was holding up, caring for my emotional well-being too. Knowing that Michelle was there and keeping an eye out for Mom gave me great comfort.
