She offered a quiet place where I could take my grandson to feed him in peace, away from the busy ER.
Two weeks after delivering my grandson, my daughter-in-law was brought to the ER. She was given strong painkillers and was unable to care for her son. I stayed with her to care for the baby, who had to come along as he is 100% nursed. As the time for his next feeding approached, I realized she would not be able to nurse him. I began to make some phone calls. I started with Postpartum and the nursery. They had both been patients here one week prior and received donor milk. I was connected with Michelle, who was able to get us some milk from the bank just in time for his next feeding. But she didn’t stop there.

Michelle brought blankets, a bassinet, bottles, and some diapers. She offered a quiet place where I could take my grandson to feed him in peace, away from the busy ER. She checked in with us so many times and made sure we had everything we needed. She was even able to get a loaner pump for my daughter-in-law, as WIC had not yet contacted her to set this up. Michelle brought smiles, advice, supplies, and support. She always took the time to listen to our needs.

Words cannot adequately convey my gratitude for the love and great care she showered on my family. She is the epitome of what every nurse should aspire to be. I’m forever grateful!
