She was not only the absolute best nurse to my new baby boy, but was that special person who knew what I was experiencing and helped me to stay calm and be able to be in the moment.
Our Child was born 33 weeks old, and mom had a serious hysterectomy surgery at the same time. Michele was our son's admission nurse. I, the dad, was experiencing a time in my life that no one could ever prepare me for. That morning was an emotional roller-coaster for me, not knowing how my wife was going to do and becoming a new dad all at the same time.

Michele was there for me through everything that day. She was not only the absolute best nurse to my new baby boy, but was that special person who knew what I was experiencing and helped me to stay calm and be able to be in the moment. Her ability to do her job as a Nurse and Therapist/Mother's Mindset deserves to be recognized with the highest of honors. People who show that kind of care and willingness to help others are very rare.

Michele has that old school mentality that makes decisions and recognizes things from experience, not just by the book. She committed to our son the entire three weeks of his stay in the NICU, and that in itself is more than any new family could ask for, as it was nice to have someone overseeing our son who knows about him and his progress. Through the three weeks, our son had probably 12-15 different great nurses, but with that also comes loss of progress and insight into a baby's growth.

As a parent who's been in the NICU twice, and I’m sure it's everyone's feeling, you want to get out and home as soon as possible. Michele made that possible by being there for our son and giving us the best help and information.

Michele Renteria is an angel, a nurse, and Superwoman. Please recognize her for us, and show her she is cared about, not only by her patients, but her employer! Thank UnityPoint - Meriter, for everything you did for our family, and Michele, if you read this, we can’t express how much you mean to our family and thank you for everything you did for us.
