Dr. Michele Polfuss is a valuable asset to UW-Milwaukee College of Nursing, as demonstrated through her teaching and advising of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as her current growing research trajectory.
Dr. Polfuss is skilled at teaching the science of the health conditions (e.g., obesity), communicating current practices for diagnosis, prevention/treatment of the conditions, and how to develop or expand on best methods of evidence based-practice. In the research/clinical setting, Dr. Polfuss is excellent at explaining the science behind her research and why it is essential for children, families, and colleagues.
One characteristic that sets Dr. Polfuss apart from others is her ability to communicate information effectively. Often the information communicated, and the expectations vary for every family interaction. Ultimately, her communication methods allow for both an exceptional understanding of the content at hand and is described in a way to provide opportunities for critical thinking, problem-solving, and continued conversations.
