Michaela is one of our charge nurses on nights. If you ever find yourself needing someone to help situate patients, she'd be the one to help with that. In the last two weeks, Michaela has provided much support when it came to high-acuity patients and acute situations. Although she has always been someone I can rely on in the last 11 months as a newer nurse, these last couple of weeks highlight just how much we value her on the team, especially our night staff.
2 weeks ago, we had a rapid on my patient; this was my first rapid since being a new grad nurse with my own group. She guided me on what my role needed to be during the rapid, jumped in on tasks, and ensured I wasn't alone in this situation. A week later, my patient assignment was high in acuity, and I had run into a couple of acute situations that I wanted to ensure that she knew what I was working with and support me. She also advocated to the oncoming Charge RN when I asked if it was possible to take a break and change group assignments and ensured that this happened; for that, I am grateful. Not only does she advocate for her patients, but she advocated for me. In addition to what she has done for me, she also ensures everyone on the team is supported and helps wherever help is needed. You can also find her cleaning around the med room, the nurses' station, and the patients' rooms. She is the epitome of treating her workplace like her own business. She is a trusted colleague, and her value on the team does not go unnoticed. I have had the opportunity to be precepted by her when I was on orientation last fall; it was a really great experience. MT4 is really lucky to have someone like her. I am grateful that she was a part of my growth as a nurse! Thank you for all you do, Michaela!

Thank you, Michaela, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
